Morning Chorus Lindos Rhodes

Morning Chorus Lindos Rhodes

"

Lindos came alive with the sunrise, I could hear the Donkey’s braying which creates such a wonderful echo off the surrounding
cliffs that I can only explain this as feeling Biblical.
As I stood there with the warm glow of the sun increasing in intensity I could also hear a small trike navigating the village streets below no doubt
making early morning deliveries before the onslaught of day trippers invaded.

Uplift your mornings and enhance your room into a stunning visual haven.

I have captured Lindos village and it’s ancient acropolis many times but I constantly get drawn back here. Lindos is your typical iconic white washed Greek village with winding small streets only navigable by walking, motor scooter or donkey.

In this image I wanted to show a grande vista of the location and make it available as an extra-large fine art print for my gallery. The composition needed extra thought and planning to show all the fine details like the moored boats, temple, distant mountains, and of course the village.

I decided to photograph the scene on a longer lens to enable the mountains and smaller details to show more clearly. To do this I shot the scene in 12 separate parts and later combined them into one single image to enable the final art print shown here..

Knowing the area a little I knew this location was probably the best viewpoint to show what I wanted. I set off from my hotel in the dark to drive the 40 minutes along the coast to reach Lindos careful to avoid any goats that always seem to like to use the roads during off-peak times!

I reached my designated vantage point and started to set up my camera equipment in the semi-darkness.

I hate rushing so I’d rather sit and wait 30 minutes and enjoy the changing light and be in the moment. I’m not just after the best image I also want to experience the magic and that's exactly what I got.

Lindos came alive with the sunrise, I could hear the Donkey’s braying (not the first time I've heard it) which creates such a wonderful echo off the surrounding cliffs. I can only explain this as feeling like something Biblical.

As I stood there with the warm glow of the sun increasing in intensity I could also hear a small trike navigating the village streets below no doubt making early morning deliveries before the onslaught of day trippers invaded.

I captured the scene ensuring I had all the elements I wanted clearly in view in my composition.

The light was warm over the open landscape and distant mountains picking up some wonderful rugged textures. The village took on a slightly cooler shade in the shadow of the acropolis and the temple itself was gloriously backlit giving a slightly ethereal glow fit for a god!

The very slight chill I had experienced before sunrise was truly forgotten as the sun had now started to create a fine beading of sweat on my shiny bald head. I decided it was time for some air con and my morning coffee and packed the gear away knowing that Rhodes had once again delivered to me a wonderful dawn experience.

You of course have the sun and whitewashed greek village, the crystal blue clear sea and the boats moored in the natural bay.
In the distance the incredible mountains that hug the coast and of course last but not least the historic temple high above the horizon.

This for me this is Greece summed up all in one image.
